Job Description and Responsibilities:

The Powerline Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground power lines and cables. This involves inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing powerline systems, subsystems, and equipment to ensure they are functioning optimally. The technician must also connect new services, install temporary services, and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles used to carry out line work.

In addition to these responsibilities, the technician travels to remote communities to perform regular inspections, conduct preventative maintenance, install equipment, and perform general repairs to powerlines and systems. They must maintain accurate maintenance documentation and coordinate with operators and maintenance staff when amending documentation.

The successful candidate will provide on-site solutions or modifications to bring systems back online as quickly as possible during outage situations while mitigating risk to equipment. They must always maintain a clean and safe work environment and act proactively to make timely recommendations for continuous improvement of operations and equipment.

Required Qualifications:

- A valid Class 3 driver's license with an airbrake endorsement, and the ability to meet vehicle insurance requirements of QEC.

Assets:

- Red Seal certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language, and culture is an asset.
- The ability to speak Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, and/or French is an asset.
