Financial Services Manager

The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Services Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Financial Services department, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and comprehensive expertise in the management of all Accounting and Capital Reporting Services functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all Accounting Services functions, including Treasury and Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and School Financial Accounts.
- Ensuring complete and accurate recording of all funds received and expenses incurred by the Board.
- Preparing the Board's consolidated financial statements, March Reports, and all other Capital Reporting to the Ministry.
- Coordinating the Board's external audits and providing all documentation required to support the Board's Financial Position.
- Demonstrating transparency and ensuring compliance with Ministry of Education and Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) financial reporting requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a degree or post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business, and a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) in good standing. They will also have comprehensive knowledge of PSAB accounting standards and CRA regulations, as well as minimum seven years of progressive financial experience, including management leadership experience, preferably in the public sector.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and management skills, and the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships. They will also have advanced understanding of financial information systems and Microsoft Office software, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to a variety of audiences.
