About the Role

PCL Construction is seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Manager to join our team in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a Quality Assurance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our construction projects and maintaining our reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Quality Assurance Processes: Develop, implement, and maintain assurance processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Review and Analyze Project Specifications: Review prime contract and subcontract details for specifications and requirements, identify quality requirements, and ensure that quality activities align with project scope as per the terms and conditions.
  • Conduct Quality Inspections and Testing: Perform visual examination, witness, monitor, and document results as per project specifications and Inspection testing plans (ITPs).
  • Collect and Compile Quality Data: Collect and compile quality turnover documentation.
  • Provide Technical Assistance and Guidance: Act as a liaison with craft/staff personnel and quality manager to provide technical assistance and guidance as needed.
  • Identify and Address Quality Issues: Identify and discern root causes associated with nonconformance reports (NCRs) and present to the quality and project team.
  • Develop and Implement Quality Plans: Develop and implement the project quality plan, (ITPs) in alignment with project specifications.
  • Coordinate Quality Assurance Activities: Actively plan, coordinate, and participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Coordinator (QA/QC) task planning activities with construction activities.
  • Provide Training and Support: Provide training and support to project teams on quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Liaise with Clients and Suppliers: Liaise with clients' field QA/QC representatives, third-party testing agencies, and trade contractor quality personnel.
  • Ensure Compliance with Specifications: Ensure suppliers and vendors adhere to project specifications, including verification of delivered materials.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Craftsperson certificate or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. 7 years proven experience in quality control and/or the construction industry, including supervisory and leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of industry; understands specifications, drawings methods, and procedures. Excellent construction inspection skills on a broad range of scopes of work. Knowledge of various engineering systems, principles, and practices. Good understanding of and ability to interpret construction industry codes. Familiar with planning and sequencing concepts. Ability to identify quality risks associated with the project. Ability to interpret plans and specifications, visualizing two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions. Experience with internal project-quality assessments. Demonstrate planning, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize own work, and delegate. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Conflict resolution and difficult conversation skills, with the ability to lead and effectively resolve disputes with trade contractors/supervisors. Strong ability to coach and mentor. Strong capability for adopting new technology. Advanced skills with quality computer applications. Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.

PCL Construction combines numerous pay and benefit strategies to provide a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package. Any salary range displayed by a job board is an estimate. The salary range for this position is $82,000 - $95,000. Your salary, which considers your unique qualifications and experience, is just one component of the robust total rewards you'll enjoy at PCL Construction.
