We are seeking nursing students who are passionate about providing compassionate care and are eager to gain clinical expertise in a team-based environment. As a Clinical Extern, you will work alongside registered nurses to support patient care teams and contribute to overall patient well-being.

The role involves assisting with basic clinical tasks, participating in patient assessments, and collaborating with the care team to provide excellent patient care. You will also have opportunities to develop your skills in areas such as bathing and hygiene, turning and repositioning, transfers using lifts and other devices, and purposeful rounding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patient care teams with basic clinical tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse
  • Participate in patient assessments and contribute to overall patient care
  • Develop skills in areas such as bathing and hygiene, turning and repositioning, and transfers using lifts and other devices
  • Collaborate with the care team to provide excellent patient care

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate Nursing Program (RN) in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study or Practical Nursing Program in final year of study
  • Will also accept final year of accelerated Baccalaureate Nursing Program
  • Completed recent clinical placement at Halton Healthcare preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to complete patient care tasks as directed
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask with proven organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
