Salary: $39.07 - $56.00 per hour

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychiatric Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing assessment and evidence-based nursing care to patients with acute mental health needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough mental status examinations to identify patient needs and develop effective care plans.
  • Implement and evaluate various therapeutic interventions to promote patient recovery and well-being.
  • Provide mental health teaching to patients and families based on adult education principles.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant mental health legislation and advocate effectively for patients' rights and needs.
  • Utilize case management principles to plan and deliver consistent care throughout a patient's admission.

Requirements:

  • C.N.A. certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing designation or commitment to obtain within 2 years.
  • Minimum of 2 years acute mental health experience required.
  • Knowledge and skill in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing to practice within Canadian Federation of Mental Health Nurses' Standards of Practice.
  • Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act of Ontario and related legislation.
  • Effective computer skills and ability to establish a therapeutic alliance with clients.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding to this population.
