About the Role

Cavendish Farms is seeking a seasoned leader to oversee all farming operations across our Eastern operations, spanning New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. As the Director, Eastern Farming Operations, you will provide strategic leadership and direction to a team of up to 100 employees during planting and harvest seasons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Planning and Budgeting: Participate in the annual budget process to establish margin and revenue targets, ensuring budget adherence across farming operations.
  • Operational Planning and Strategy: Collaborate with Farm Managers and Senior Leaders to develop strategies, investigate future options, and address challenges, ensuring the optimal performance of Company farms.
  • Travel and Relationship Building: Travel within North America to maintain relationships, gain in-depth knowledge of the business, and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Trade Show Representation: Attend trade shows as required to promote the company's interests.
  • Company Strategy and Execution: Contribute to the development of the Company Strategy and ensure its effective execution.
  • Daily Operations Briefing: Provide a daily operations briefing to farm managers, ensuring they are informed and aligned with company goals.
  • Administrative and People Management: Manage administrative tasks, including email, and oversee the operational team, ensuring they are equipped to meet their responsibilities.
  • Meetings and Special Projects: Attend meetings related to farming operations, provide input, and assist with farm-related special projects.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement and implement new and innovative ways to conduct farming operations.
Qualifications
  • Leadership Experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience managing a large operation, with responsibility for a business unit or entity, including team supervision and management.
  • Education: A post-secondary degree is required, with a preference for a discipline in agriculture.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with teams and executive management.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on program improvement.
  • Negotiation and Business Skills: Excellent negotiation and business skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams in a complex business environment.
  • Change Management: Proven experience managing change successfully in the agriculture industry.
