As a Director of Pharmacy Operations, you will oversee the operations of pharmacies in your region, ensuring a safe and effective pharmacy practice that provides exceptional patient care. Your role will involve coaching, developing, and training pharmacy teams to drive the success of the pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with pharmacy teams to share insights into the competitive landscape, including market share, volumes, programs, promotions, and pharmacy talent.
  • Monitor and review weekly projections and store labour management process with the pharmacy manager to ensure proper allocation of hours and task management.
  • Execute business initiatives and ensure pharmacies are equipped and prepared to implement, identifying any gaps and reporting back to the program administrator.
  • Build relationships and partner with stakeholders, such as district managers and store managers/franchisees, to ensure appropriate knowledge and understanding of business initiatives and important pharmacy items.
  • Work closely with the store manager/franchisee/labour relations partner when dealing with disciplinary matters or other matters related to unionized colleagues, leveraging the pharmacy manager to partner with counterparts as appropriate.
  • Support new pharmacy manager training and regularly follow up during the applicable probationary period and thereafter to ensure a successful onboarding.
  • Promote and support the execution of patient care services and follow up on medication incidents.
  • Investigate, understand, review, and identify critical financial metrics such as labour, inventory, growth opportunities, etc.
  • Maintain budget shrink initiatives, manage returns and credits to suppliers, transmittals, inventory, third-party, and detailed follow-up of dispensary operations.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal pharmacy regulations as well as standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in sales and script growth and maintain a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy
  • 3-7 years of progressive, management-related experience
  • Solid understanding of pharmacy landscape and retail industry
  • Operational experience, preferably in multi-locations
  • Excellent understanding of store processes
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills; ability to motivate a team
  • Demonstrated skills in relationship building and influencing to achieve results
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Regular travel is required, often requiring overnight stays
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and constantly changing work environment
