Lunchroom Supervisor Role

The Durham District School Board is seeking a Lunchroom Supervisor to play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during lunch hours.

About the Position

As a Lunchroom Supervisor, you will work under the direction of the Principal to supervise students on school grounds during lunch hours. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain a safe and orderly environment, ensuring students have a positive experience during their break.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise students during lunch hours, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Set up and remove lunchroom equipment, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
  • Dispose of lunch refuse in suitable containers and maintain the overall cleanliness of the lunchroom areas.
  • Address discipline problems in accordance with the Principal's guidelines and report significant incidents to the Principal or their designate.
  • Perform other noon hour supervision duties as assigned by the Principal.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
  • Ability to ensure the safety and security of students.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to interact with staff, students, and parents.
  • Willingness to work with students of diverse needs and capabilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proven record of attendance and punctuality.
  • Commitment to working in a diverse school community.
Work Schedule

Lunchroom Supervisors typically work 1-2 hours per day, with the possibility of additional hours depending on the school's requirements.
