Developmental Support Worker

Empower Simcoe is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Developmental Support Worker to join our team. As a Developmental Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing quality support to high-need individuals residing in our Treatment Home and Specialized Resource locations.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide guidance and direct support in areas identified as necessary related to activities of daily living, personal care, communication, emotional, physical, and mental health, safety, finances, and relationship development to foster independence.
- Act as part of the support team for individuals supported, utilizing a personal outcome philosophy-based approach to support individuals in making informed choices that lead to successful attainment of their goals and aspirations.
- Provide quality supports based on a person's behavior support plan to meet the physical, medical, and emotional needs of individuals, including doctor's appointments and medical reviews.
- Foster the independence of those supported in the program and actively participate in planning for people supported and their families.
- Complete all required documentation in a timely and effective manner.
- Administer medications and document medication dispensing in accordance with the Agency's policies and procedures.
- Facilitate family participation in individuals' lives and support people with their budgeting, banking, and purchases as may be requested or required.
- Community College Diploma in Social Services or a closely related field from an acceptable accredited college.
- Registered Behavioural Technician certificate an asset.
- Minimum of 1 year recent full-time work experience supporting hard-to-serve adults with complex care needs in community residential settings.
- Experience supporting people with behavior management techniques is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to respond calmly in crisis situations through various approved verbal de-escalation and physical intervention techniques.
- A competitive compensation package, including a minimum starting rate of pay of $28.73 per hour.
