Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our team at Empower Simcoe. As a Senior Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing supportive services to individuals with intellectual disabilities, promoting their independence, and empowering them to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary support person and lead support staff for individuals residing in our group homes.
  • Support individuals to develop and realize individualized goals through the Individual Support Planning process.
  • Provide guidance and direct support in areas identified as necessary related to activities of daily living, personal care, communication, emotional, physical and mental health, safety, finances, relationship development, and independence.
  • Assess and plan effectively for individuals' changing support needs and make necessary referrals to community resources.
  • Encourage and support individuals in becoming active members of their community and assisting them with exercising full rights of citizenship.
  • Connect individuals to resources and programs in the community based on their interests.

Requirements:

  • Developmental Service Worker Diploma or an acceptable educational equivalency.
  • Minimum one-year recent full-time work experience working in a group living setting providing support for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Valid class "G" driver's license and own reliable transportation.
  • Current valid certificates and a demonstrated proficiency in First Aid, C.P.R., N.V.C.I., and medication dispensing.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership, conflict resolution, communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook.
  • Understanding of Empower Simcoe's principles and a demonstrated ability in supporting individuals to meet their personal support outcomes.
