**Job Summary:**

The Youth Programmer position is a vital role within the Moose Cree First Nation community. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating and implementing engaging programs for youth aged 6-29. These activities will cater to diverse age groups, promoting social interaction, skill-building, and cultural exchange.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Create evening and weekend activities that promote youth engagement and participation in various age categories (6-13, 14-18, 19-29)
  • Supervise the general property, assets, and security during closing hours
  • Develop and schedule monthly programs tailored to each age group, incorporating ideas gathered from gatherings, surveys, or youth suggestions
  • Partner with community programs, organizations, and volunteers to create activities sharing skills and knowledge with youth participants
  • Coordinate special events for the youth of Moose Factory, promoting cultural exchange and community building
  • Document and record program activities, updating social media and producing reports, statistics, and newsletters as required

**Requirements:**

  • College Diploma in Child and Youth Worker or related social science field or Grade 12 with relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal Culture and experience working with Aboriginal Peoples, particularly Aboriginal Youth
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and computer skills
  • Knowledge or experience working in a Youth Centre or recreation department
  • Understanding of Moose Cree First Nation community and services and the Mushkegowuk Peoples of James Bay
  • Standard First Aid and CPR 'C' Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Current WHMIS and Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps or willingness to obtain
