Job Summary

As a Heavy Equipment Operator at RailWorks Corporation, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy construction and maintenance of way equipment in the construction and maintenance of track. This role requires a strong understanding of safety procedures and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and other heavy equipment to move, load, or unload materials.
  • Perform equipment safety, maintenance checks, and routine repairs.
  • Install equipment or attachments on machinery or related structures.
  • Signal directions or warnings to coworkers and coordinate machine actions with other activities.
  • Locate underground services, such as pipes, wires, prior to beginning work.
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions.
  • Keep records of material and equipment usage and problems encountered.

Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year experience operating excavators, backhoes in a construction environment.
  • Valid AZ Driver's License and a clean driver's license.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and read and interpret documents.
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background checks including drug screening.

Working Conditions
  • Standing and walking around the project site.
  • Frequent bending, lifting, digging, shoveling, and moving of objects on site.
  • Loud noise.
  • Field environment and subject to all weather conditions.
  • Working in and around live commuter trains, high voltage, confined space, safety-sensitive cabling.
