Support Students with Special Needs

The Avon Maitland District School Board is seeking a dedicated individual to support students with diverse needs in an educational setting. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating positive learning environments and providing essential support to students with special needs.

Responsibilities
  • Support students with complex needs, including behaviour, safety, medical, and physical requirements
  • Assist with lifting, toileting, positioning, and transferring children and equipment
  • Apply Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) techniques, with training provided
  • Work closely with students, classroom teachers, and administration to ensure a supportive learning environment
Qualifications
  • Education Assistant Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field, such as Child Youth Worker or Developmental Service Worker
  • Experience working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilities is preferred
  • Flexibility, patience, and empathy are essential for this role
What We Offer
  • Daily rate: $19.45 per hour + vacation pay

Please note that this is a casual, call-in basis position, with hours of work varying from Monday to Friday, September to June. A reliable method of transportation and ability to attend specific schools are required.
