About the RoleThe Occupational Health Nurse will be responsible for providing emergency services, healthcare, and wellness programs to employees and contractors at our Red Lake operation. Key responsibilities include administering first aid and primary care, managing occupational and non-occupational injury and illness claims, and promoting a healthy workplace.
Key Responsibilities- Administer first aid and primary care to employees and contractors
- Manage occupational and non-occupational injury and illness claims
- Follow up with injured workers to ensure safe and timely return to work
- Organize and provide worker health education and counseling services
- Coordinate and deliver various workplace testing programs
- Administer drug and alcohol testing program
- Advocate for employees with supervisors and external organizations
- Deliver worker training programs
- Liaise with outside health organizations
- Maintain accurate employee medical records
- Compile statistical reports
- Bachelor of Science with active RN designation (or diploma in Nursing with active RPN designation)
- Unrestricted license to practice in Ontario
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) is preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Knowledge of underground mining and industrial occupational health
- Valid Class G driver's license
- Demonstrated experience as a nurse with minimum 2 years in the mining industry specific to occupational health
