The Program Director is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of the De Havilland Field Program. This includes strategic leadership, resource management, adherence to quality and safety standards, effective communication with stakeholders, and the achievement of program objectives within established budgets and timelines.
Key Responsibilities- Program Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and execute strategic plans for the De Havilland Field Program, aligning them with organizational goals and industry trends.
- Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams to achieve program objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate program progress, identifying potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage program budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.
- Collaborate with Finance to track program expenses, manage invoicing, and make necessary adjustments.
- Optimize resource utilization to meet production targets while minimizing waste.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Identify opportunities for solutions from various sources, including stakeholder requests, and direct communication with other parts of the business.
- Ensure alignment with the DHC Program Director on all facets of the development and stakeholder engagement.
- Maintain regular communication with key customer contacts, contractors, key stakeholders, and decision-makers to execute the program.
- Change Control and Change Management:
- Seek approval for any variations or deviations from the proposed solution to ensure that any changes are in line with the company's policies and objectives.
- Project Management and Deliverables:
- Monitor the progress of the program throughout the execution process to ensure that all customer requirements are met – always maintaining a high degree of communication and project management discipline.
- Ensure the weekly Program Management meetings are scheduled with written updates provided to the Parent Company De Havilland Field Steering Committee.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate and coordinate with the DHC Program Director on a daily, weekly, and monthly schedule.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to coordinate program activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Lead cross-functional teams through project phases, from concept to delivery.
- Monitor and report on program performance metrics, such as cost, schedule, and quality.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Ensure all program documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and in compliance with industry standards.
- Mentor and coach program team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering, aerospace management, or a related field with relevant certifications (e.g., PMP).
- Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project and program management within the aircraft manufacturing industry or a closely related field.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, set strategic direction, and drive results.
- Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of aircraft manufacturing processes, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Project Management: Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Safety Focus: A commitment to maintaining high safety standards in all program activities.
