Behavioural Care Specialist

The Behaviour Support Specialist will work closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop, build, and evaluate behavioural care plans and interventions for patients on the Behavioural Neurology unit. The specialist will develop and support the skills of our care team, who assess and treat patients with dementia, various neurodegenerative diseases, and other associated behaviours that have not responded to other methods of treatment or programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Provides comprehensive clinical behavioural assessment and behaviour support services
- Provides training to staff and students related to behaviour support
- Collaborates with client, care partners, and the client's circle of care to develop and disseminate individualized behavior management interventions and care plans
- Participates in data collection and reporting on a number of accountability measures
Qualifications include:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Registration as a Behaviour Analyst with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario
- Minimum three years demonstrated expertise and knowledge working with individuals with various neurodegenerative diseases including dementia, and those with acute behavioural changes and associated responsive behaviours
