Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Building Inspector to join our team in North Bay. As a key member of our Building Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.

About the Role

This position is responsible for conducting inspections, issuing permits, and enforcing building codes and regulations in accordance with the Building Code Act and Ontario Building Code. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of construction materials and techniques, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Issue permits and certificates as required
  • Enforce building codes and regulations through education and enforcement
  • Investigate complaints and resolve issues in a fair and impartial manner
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A graduate degree in Architectural or Engineering Technologist Program or related field
  • Completion of relevant courses, including Building Inspector I or II
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related field
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $76,000-$90,000 based on the hourly rate of $37.39 per hour for Building Inspector I or $40.36 per hour for Building Inspector II, and assuming a standard full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
