Job Title: Clinical Services Manager

BC Cancer is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Services Manager to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing clinical and operational leadership, management expertise, and effective management of a designated front-line clinical patient/client care department or program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop strategic priorities and coordinate operational planning and implementation for the Cancer Centre in conjunction with the practice leaders and Senior Director, Regional Clinical Operations.
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for team members using effective management techniques, coaching, mentoring, skill and leadership development, decision making, coalition building, and performance management.
  • Manage clinical service area operations by coordinating and establishing priorities, assessing and monitoring staffing requirements and supplies.
  • Develop effective and efficient practice and process to measure the use of resources and quality of care.
  • Lead, in collaboration with physicians and professional practice leaders, the identification of evidence-based outcomes, the development of quality indicators and care pathways, ensures compliance with accreditation standards, and coordinates or participates in quality improvement activities.
Requirements:
  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related degree from an accredited University, a Master's degree is preferred, plus a minimum of seven to ten years recent related clinical experience that includes two (2) years working in a managerial/leadership capacity.
  • Current registration/membership with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) or an appropriate recognized professional association.
  • Proven leadership ability, with communication and interpersonal skills conducive to interacting in a multidisciplinary environment and ability to relate easily to a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong skills in operations management.
  • Foster collaborative working relationships that promote cooperative goal achievement and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
  • Self-directed and highly motivated.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead teams and to promote teamwork.
  • Critical thinking skills, problem resolution, and proven ability to effectively manage human and fiscal resources.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and mediate resolutions to complex situations.
  • Understanding and experience of quality assurance process, operational planning, and program development.
  • Ability to develop and foster a culture of education and research aimed at improving care delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate basic computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database programs and ability to utilize a computerized patient care information system.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Support team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
  • Work collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
  • Have commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
