At Meridia Recruitment Solutions, we are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Controller to join our client\u2019s team in Charlottetown. As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for full cycle accounting for the Food Division, including supervision and mentoring of accounting staff, accurate transaction accounting, and preparation of financial reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff to grow their knowledge and abilities
- Accurately account for transactions in the general ledger accounts
- Prepare and review working papers to support account balances and investigate issues
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Perform account reconciliations
- Review monthly HST returns and payments
- Analyze accounts and costs for reasonableness and consistency
- Prepare various analytical and ad-hoc reports
- Perform month-end and year-end financial statements for senior management
- Work with external accountants to prepare externally prepared year-end financial statements
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Review and authorize vendor payments
- Prepare financial reports for senior management as requested
- Work closely with the Director of Finance on various projects
- Participate in software advancements
- Main point of contact for CRA inquiries
Requirements:
- CPA designation
- Strong computer skills
- Payroll and benefits knowledge
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
- Experience with a public accounting firm an asset
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
- Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
