CN is seeking a dedicated Track Maintenance Supervisor to join our team

In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network. You will lead crews responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining track components, including rails, ties, switches, and ballast.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of track structure and right-of-way to meet CN's stringent specifications.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to track maintenance teams, fostering a culture of quality workmanship and safety.
  • Evaluate the quality of completed track work and authorize its return to service.
  • Implement and enforce safety directives, promoting a secure working environment for all personnel.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of safety programs and initiatives.
  • Perform hands-on tasks such as removing and replacing defective ties, rails, spikes, and anchors.
  • Correct any deviations in track surface, alignment, or gauge to ensure optimal performance.
  • Install and repair street and railroad crossings, ensuring safe and efficient traffic flow.
  • Assist with the replacement and repair of specialized track components like power-operated switches and insulated joints.
  • Participate in unloading ballast and distributing track materials, contributing to efficient operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized worksite, adhering to environmental regulations.
Working Conditions:

This position requires flexibility and adaptability. You may be required to work shifts, away from home on various schedules, and occasional overtime. The role involves working outdoors in diverse weather conditions and physically demanding tasks.

You must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 70 pounds occasionally. Strong eye-hand coordination and grasping abilities are essential.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a foreman or supervisor in a similar industry.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a commitment to safety.

Welding skills and knowledge of signals or Rail Operating Rules are considered assets.

Upon hiring, successful candidates will undergo comprehensive formal and on-the-job training. This program includes classroom instruction and practical experience, covering health and safety regulations and basic machine operator procedures.
