Salary

The annual salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $170,000, based on applicable experience, education, and skill level.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with 12+ years of experience in designing large hydro and water control dams. Your expertise should include dam safety reviews, condition assessments, and related disciplines. Site experience in hydro projects, both domestically and internationally, is preferred.

You will lead diverse teams of engineers, designers, and drafters through conceptual design, preliminary, and final design stages. You will also act as a technical resource, provide progress reports, attend site visits, and communicate with clients professionally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and collaborating with project teams
  • Acting as a technical resource within project teams
  • Providing progress reports to clients and senior management
  • Attending site visits and gathering information
  • Leading dam safety reviews
  • Communicating with clients
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in hydrotechnical or civil engineering
  • Professional registration as a Professional Engineer in BC or eligibility to register
  • Strong technical knowledge and design capabilities in civil engineering, specifically related to dams
  • Large conventional hydro and pump storage experience (i.e., over 50-100 MW)
  • Ability to interface with other disciplines and understand geotechnical, civil-structural, and mechanical design aspects
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proven record of project management and client management
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills in English
  • Construction site experience
  • Experience performing dam safety reviews and inspections
