Job Title: Dam Safety SpecialistEstimated Annual Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 CAD

This role requires regular or occasional attendance at the client's workplace(s) and will be subject to the client's Contractor Vaccination Policy. The policy requires all contractor resources to be fully vaccinated by January 10, 2022 or prior to the work assignment start date whichever date is later. It requires a full-time onsite presence so local candidates or those that will relocate for the contract duration are asked to apply. No FIFO option.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ongoing dam surveillance and performance assessment, including a formal annual data review, to identify conditions that might impact dam safety.
  • Implement, review, and recommend changes to surveillance plans for each site, ensuring they meet Consequence Classification requirements.
  • Verify that dam operations meet dam safety requirements.
  • Identify and characterize any conditions that might threaten the dam or public safety and provide follow-up action.
  • Oversee routine site inspection/reporting programs and coordinate training of site inspectors. Participate in emergency preparedness plan development and implementation.
  • Prepare inspection reports, compliance reports, and instrumentation monitoring plans suitable for submission to the provincial Regulator.
  • Participate in periodic Dam Safety Reviews, deficiency investigations, and capital projects at assigned dams.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with Civil or Geotechnical focus.
  • 8+ years of related experience for large civil assets.
  • Must have experience with dam safety or relevant experience in monitoring large civil assets.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or eligible for registration and Permit to Practice.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards.
  • Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
