Job Title: Assistant Location Safety Manager

First Student Shared Services is seeking an experienced Assistant Location Safety Manager to join our team in Toronto, ON.

About the Role:

The Assistant Location Safety Manager will be responsible for administering the driver hiring and compliance process, providing direction and guidance to location trainers, and investigating incidents and accidents. The successful candidate will have a strong background in safety and compliance, with experience in a similar role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer driver hiring and compliance process, including interviewing and driver selection, criminal background checks, and drug/alcohol testing.
  • Provide direction and guidance to location trainers and assist in the development of classroom training content.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, determine fault or preventability, and provide post-accident counseling to drivers.
  • Prepare and submit accident-related compliance forms and maintain files.
  • Plan and conduct monthly safety meetings and assist in the development of safety training goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • 5 years of operations experience, including experience in a safety role.
  • Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues.
  • Proficient computer literacy with Microsoft Office products and experience with other software such as timekeeping and payroll systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time.
