Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team in Windsor. As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing design and shop drawing processes, managing resource distribution, and ensuring accurate drawing packages for construction projects.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have 5+ years of Canadian hands-on experience with cost estimation for mechanical and electrical systems in the industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) construction industry. You will be required to handle cost estimation / budgeting, project management / coordination, contract administration, risk management, value engineering, communication / reporting, quality control / assurance, and sustainability / environmental considerations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee design and shop drawing processes
  • Manage resource distribution and ensure accurate drawing packages
  • Develop estimating processes and procedures considering cross-departmental interdependencies
  • Support President in evaluating project feasibility and proforma criteria
  • Provide recommendations for mitigating high probability risks
  • Attend project sites to understand construction processes and norms
  • Develop construction budgets and identify potential risks
  • Price changes to draft construction budgets
  • Oversee preparation of material take offs and detailed pricing alternatives
  • Establish and manage the tendering process
  • Work closely with Design, Procurement, and Project Teams
  • Hire, coach, and develop a team of construction estimating professionals
Requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook
  • Proficiency in using cost estimating software for quantity surveying / estimating
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP and Electrical construction design drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines
  • Financial management skills for cost estimation and budgeting
  • Knowledge of local and international building regulations, mechanical standards, and industry's best practices
  • Technical knowledge of large-scale industrial electrical and mechanical systems
What We Offer

A competitive salary of $100,000+ per year, day shift, Monday to Friday, permanent role. The ideal candidate will have a degree or diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering, building services engineering, quantity surveying, construction management, or electrical engineering technology. This is not an entry-level position, previous experience in construction cost estimation (both Mechanical and Electrical) is required.
