About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Integration and Test Engineer to join our team at Telesat. As a key member of our Lightspeed System Development team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining system verification and validation plans for our Telesat LEO constellation communication system.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop system and sub-system verification matrices against system requirements
  • Coordinate and participate in system level testing activities, including test planning, execution, and reporting
  • Serve as a SATCOM SME and support other technical staff as required
  • Develop and maintain test cases, test beds, and required documentation
  • Hands-on testing in the Leo Lab for various data path and routing features
  • Work with other segments, such as DevOps, Ground Systems, and Satellite, to foster a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Play an active role in component and subsystem design and test activities
  • Configure test equipment, such as Satellite Link Emulators, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and traffic generators
  • Ensure the product under test meets technical, functional, performance, and business requirements
  • Work with partners and other vendors in various test campaigns
Requirements
  • B. Sc. in Electrical, Computer, or System Engineering and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in satellite communications
  • Strong exposure to modulation and coding used in modern satellite communication standards, such as DVB-S2X, TDMA, DVB-RCS2, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Linux, IP, and routing protocols
  • Demonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation, and coding, and its impact on the satellite link performance
  • Experience in test case and defect tracking tools, such as Jira and Jama
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams, and partners/suppliers
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams
Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience with various traffic generators, such as Ixia and Spirent
  • Highly collaborative team player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates
  • Proficient with MATLAB, Python, or C++
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Automation experience with programming languages, such as Python

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
