Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Professional to join our team as a Resident Care Specialist at Southbridge Care Homes. This is a rewarding opportunity for a registered practical nurse to provide exceptional care and support to our residents while collaborating with our interdisciplinary team.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of individual residents, developing and implementing care plans, and providing direct resident care in accordance with current standards of care and policies. You will work closely with our medical and allied staff, residents, families, and other departments to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the assessment of residents' needs and develop care plans that promote maximum independence;
- Provide direct resident care, including administering medication, wound care, and vital sign monitoring;
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support;
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of attendants and unregulated care providers;
- Maintain accurate records of nursing observations and procedures performed;
- Assist with safekeeping of all drugs and nursing solutions in the residence;
- Participate in unit orientation and complete applicable educational training;
- Administer medication in accordance with College of Nurses standards and company policies.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have a current Ontario Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, possession of a medication administration certificate, and the ability to follow oral and written instructions in English. A strong understanding of relevant legislation, such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, is also essential.
