Job Summary:

At Brightshores, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Practical Nurse to join our Operating Room team. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for assessing patient needs, performing nursing activities, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess perioperative patient needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Perform nursing activities that demonstrate accountability and a commitment to patient safety
  • Utilize equipment and supplies effectively and efficiently
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and make adjustments to care plans as needed

Requirements:

  • Current Registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
  • Successful completion of the Operating Room certificate (and preferably at least two years of OR experience)
  • Ability to scrub in all services
  • Knowledge of the current ORNAC standards
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment
  • Ability to function as a team member
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to flex time to meet unit's needs
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving, decision making and organizational skills
  • Ability to respond to urgent/emergency situations
  • Must be willing to take call and be available to reach the hospital within 20 minutes
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record

  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
