Job Summary
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a part-time, temporary Registered Nurse to work in the Structured Observation and Treatment Unit and Women's Secure Forensic Unit. As a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care, ensuring the security and safety of the inpatient unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide client assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate interprofessional plans of care for clients with a wide range of mental illnesses and substance abuse issues.
- Liaise with internal and external services and community agencies to coordinate care for clients.
- Utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and customer service in your approach to care and service delivery.
- Work with clients from diverse populations, contribute to program development, participate in clinical supervision, and provide education support and supervision to students.
- Participate in the preparation of reports and implement the unit's risk management processes.
Requirements
- Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to develop the Nurse-Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team.
- Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behavior.
Preferred Qualifications
- Psychiatric/mental health nursing experience with forensic patients and knowledge of risk assessment tools.
- Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language.
