About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health organization is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will provide collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum.

Social Workers at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health are primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. You will build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. A minimum of 2 years' post BSW related clinical experience is required, with previous experience working in a community-based setting preferred.

You will have demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach, familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches, and experience with group facilitation. You will also have excellent communication skills, ability to complete biopsychosocial assessments, and demonstrated ability to assist patients and families with navigation of local community resources and agencies.

Hours and Compensation

This is a Permanent Full-Time (100%) position, with a salary range of $33.97 - $42.89 Hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
