At HSB Canada, we are looking for a highly skilled Technology Risk Leader to join our team. This role is based in our Head Office location and reports to the Director of Engineering.

Salary

We offer an estimated salary of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description

The Technology Risk Leader will be responsible for managing a team of engineers and overseeing daily operations, supporting and developing engineering experts, driving operational excellence, and implementing strategic initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring satisfactory completion of departmental deliverables;
  • Managing assignments of engineering work requests to ensure appropriate resource utilization;
  • Providing guidance and support, training, and development for newer team members;
  • Collaborating with the Director of Engineering to manage training and development needs;
  • Overseeing QA/QC and peer review activities to ensure quality meets stakeholder requirements;
  • Overseeing housekeeping and document control of HOED systems, documents, and assets;
  • Supporting the Director, Engineering in executing department strategies and initiatives;
  • Representing the Company at professional forums and industry events.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, P.Eng designation in good standing (an asset);
  • 12+ years of relevant professional experience, with at least 5 years in the insurance industry;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a team and coordinating assignments and daily tasks;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present to Senior Executives;
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset;
  • In-depth understanding of risk engineering and loss control, specifically related to equipment breakdown and property insurance lines;
  • Experience in heavy industry sectors, such as oil and gas, power generation, and manufacturing;
  • Understanding of facility operations, maintenance, asset care, risk management, and capital project execution;
  • Strong organizational skills to stay efficient and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment;
  • Able to travel within North America and internationally.
