Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at LifeLabs. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services, working closely with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff to provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Phlebotomy Services: Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings in a variety of settings, including private homes, commercial facilities, retirement homes, and long-term care facilities.
  • Specimen Collection and Preparation: Collect and prepare specimens for transportation and testing, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Client Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff, providing excellent customer service and ensuring seamless communication.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping: Accurately enter patient demographics, requisition information, and other relevant data into our laboratory information system.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance activities, including quality control checks and proficiency testing, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and laboratory standards.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent, with a minimum of 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and laboratory staff.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in laboratory information systems and other relevant software, with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent standing, walking, and lifting of up to 25 pounds.
