Job Summary

The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech and Language Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of speech-language pathology services for students with communication needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Speech-Language Pathologists: Collaborate with our Speech-Language Pathologists to provide support and resources for students with communication difficulties.
  • Develop Communication Strategies: Develop and implement communication strategies to support students with diverse needs.
  • Provide Workshops and Training: Design and deliver workshops and training sessions to support students with communication disorders.
  • Maintain Equipment and Resources: Ensure the maintenance and inventory of speech and language pathology equipment and resources.
  • Support Referrals and Data Collection: Support referrals to the Community Care Access Centre and maintain student-specific data for programming recommendations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Secondary School Graduation Diploma with two years of post-secondary education and a one-year Communicative Disorders Assistant graduate certificate.
  • Minimum One Year of Experience: Minimum one year of related experience required.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License: Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License and have access to own transportation.
