Project Control Eng/Officer Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Control Eng/Officer to join our team at Cpus Engineering Staffing Solutions Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and driving the Front-End Planning processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate Front-End Planning processes, including Value Engineering and Project Definition rating index (PDRI) workshops.
  • Provide recommendations on the execution of workshops and initiate if required.
  • Initiate and facilitate Risk Profiling, Project Breakdown Structure development, and review project scoping and Basis of Estimates.
  • Prepare Risk Management plans with support from other project team members.
  • Initiate external estimating contracts as required and obtain internal estimates from resource providers.
  • Develop integrated, logically tied, resource-loaded project schedules (Primavera and MS Project) incorporating identified scope, risks, estimates/budgets, and constraints.
  • Establish project budgets, contingency, and milestones with support from project team members.
  • Prepare Project Execution Plans and obtain concurrence from applicable stakeholders.
  • Support Business Case Summary development and ensure detail, accuracy, and quality for monitoring and control of project commitments.
  • Develop and maintain updated and accurate conceptual phase schedules.
  • Load approved project plans into applicable project control systems and set up source systems as required.
  • Perform weekly schedule updates, cost and schedule analysis, and update schedule and cost forecasts accordingly.
  • Facilitate project metrics reporting and variance analysis, and identify actual and potential deviations from approved budgets or schedules.
  • Recommend corrective actions and monitor project risks against Risk Management Plans.
  • Ensure approved change control processes are followed, prepare and obtain approval of change control documentation, and timely update project cost and schedule.
  • Maintain project baseline integrity, document baseline changes, and ensure all changes are auditable.
  • Maintain accurate historical project performance throughout the change control process.
  • Interface with all stakeholders to ensure project plans are accurately updated and maintained.
  • Interface with Finance to ensure financial systems reflect project plans and are aligned with project controls systems.
  • Obtain cost and schedule commitments from applicable resource providers and obtain cost and schedule status and forecasts.
  • Set up and maintain project control budgets, annual business plan, and control budget development and analysis.
  • Monitor contractor cost and schedule performance against project plans and identify actual or potential discrepancies.
  • Recommend corrective actions and monitor project POs (actuals, forecasts, payment status, accruals) and identify actual or potential issues.
  • Facilitate and support project financial close-out process, final reconciliation, and finalize/close out project controls and source systems.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of PMO processes and procedures and maintain project files providing an auditable trail throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

Requires knowledge of engineering/science encompassing subject areas relevant to project planning, scheduling, risk management, and control service needs. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, including relevant business and computer applications knowledge, to develop and maintain computerized project information, costs, and forecasts.

This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the successful completion of a four-year university education in an appropriate field such as Business, Finance, or Engineering, or by having the equivalent level of education. Junior resumes welcome.
