SQL Database Administrator

JMT Consultants Inc. is seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator to join our team in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

This is a full-time, permanent position that requires a strong background in database management and administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop database schemas and objects
  2. Develop stored procedures, functions, and complex queries
  3. Design and generate complex SQL reports based on business requirements
  4. Perform data mining and integration from various sources
  5. Ensure data consistency, integrity, and quality across different datasets
  6. Develop and maintain ETL processes
  7. Collaborate with internal teams to analyze and assess business needs
  8. Tailor database solutions to meet unique business requirements
  9. Oversee comprehensive database management tasks
  10. Implement backup and recovery strategies
  11. Secure database access and ensure data integrity
  12. Optimize physical data storage design
  13. Implement and maintain database security best practices
  14. Manage user access and authentication
  15. Ensure compliance with security policies and data protection regulations
  16. Continuously monitor database performance and resource utilization
  17. Identify bottlenecks and optimize queries and indexes
  18. Maintain peak database performance through proactive measures
  19. Conduct root cause analysis for database issues
  20. Resolve performance issues and errors promptly
  21. Collaborate with development teams to fix application-related database problems
  22. Develop scalable database solutions to accommodate growing data volumes
  23. Implement strategies for database scaling and partitioning
  24. Stay updated with the latest database technologies and best practices
  25. Enable and manage connectivity via RESTful APIs
  26. Work with custom-developed applications to ensure seamless data flow
  27. Collaborate with software developers to integrate database solutions

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an SQL Developer and/or DBA
  3. Proven experience with Azure SQL Database services
  4. Strong background in database schema design and optimization
  5. Experience in writing complex stored procedures and SQL queries
  6. Extensive experience in data mining and data integration from various sources
  7. Experience in coordinating with cross-functional teams to develop tailored database solutions
  8. Proficiency in SQL Server and T-SQL programming
  9. Knowledge of database security best-practices
  10. Experience with performance tuning and optimization techniques
  11. Familiarity with performance monitoring tools and techniques
  12. Understanding of RESTful APIs and web services
  13. Experience with cloud platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure
  14. Proficiency in ETL tools and processes (e.g., SSIS, Informatica)
  15. Knowledge of data integration methodologies and tools
  16. Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Power Shell) is desirable
  17. Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence tools is a plus
  18. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
