Job Summary:
School District #22 (Vernon) is seeking a qualified Education Assistant to provide support to students in a classroom setting. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a teacher/administrator to assist with student learning, modify and prepare teaching materials, and maintain student records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tutor students and provide individualized support to meet their educational needs
- Modify and prepare specialized teaching materials to support student learning
- Compile and update student records to track progress and identify areas for improvement
- Monitor student behavior and provide guidance and support as needed
- Supervise students during noon hour and bus supervision as required
Requirements:
- 6 months of relevant training or experience in education assistance, including recent Okanagan College Education Assistant certificate or equivalent education
- Familiarity with current special education technology
- Proven ability to learn and use new technology, possess literacy, numeracy, and English skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, flexibility, and good communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a team setting
- Bilingual - fluency in French and English is required
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and supportive team environment, providing services to students in a classroom setting. The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation:
The hourly wage for this position is $28.15.
