We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Historic Site Representative at the Kingston Penitentiary National Historic Site of Canada. As a representative of one of Kingston's premium tourism sites, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, leading guided historical tours, and selling retail products.
Key Responsibilities- Represent the St. Lawrence Parks Commission in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring a positive experience for visitors.
- Lead scripted guided historical tours, making each visitor's experience special and memorable.
- Sell select retail products to visitors, providing excellent customer service and handling cash and credit transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform manual tasks, including cleaning and upkeep of the site grounds, buildings, offices, washrooms, and tour routes.
- Work safely and report any unsafe activities to your supervisor.
- Embody the St. Lawrence Parks Commission's equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in all interactions with staff and guests.
- Ability to learn historical information and interpret it to the public within scripts provided.
- Effective management of groups of up to 30 visitors per tour, staying organized and delivering tours within allotted timeframes.
- Ability to operate a cash register and credit card machine, handle cash and invoice transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
- Responsibility and initiative while working alone and/or in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide excellent program delivery.
- Ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal, visitor, and fellow staff safety.
You must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution (currently or for the fall semester) OR you must have graduated within the past six months.
