Senior Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Engineer to join our team at Sierra Space. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing satellite hardware and software configurations, developing and testing GNC algorithms, and building and testing flight software.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in aerospace engineering, with experience in GNC-related analysis, such as performance analysis, multi-sensor fusion, and estimation/filtering. You will also have a strong working knowledge of Matlab and Simulink, as well as experience with code development in C and C++.
Additionally, you will have experience working in a team environment, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will also have a strong understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies and experience with containerization and microservices.
As a Senior GNC Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development of GNC systems, including the design, development, and testing of GNC algorithms and software. You will also be responsible for providing technical oversight to junior engineers and contributing to the development of the company's GNC capabilities.

Key Responsibilities- Design and analyze satellite hardware and software configurations
- Develop and test GNC algorithms and software
- Build and test flight software
- Provide technical oversight to junior engineers
- Contribute to the development of the company's GNC capabilities
- Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
- 10+ years of relevant GNC experience
- Strong working knowledge of Matlab and Simulink
- Experience with code development in C and C++
- Experience working in a team environment
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies
- Experience with containerization and microservices
- Masters of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
- Active TS/SCI US Government clearance
- Experience with system modeling tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink and STK
- Experience with C/C++
- Experience with Python
- Experience with GNC analysis and simulation
- Previous experience with navigation filters and fault detection algorithms
- Experience with related aerospace vehicles, sensor suites, and missions
- Exposure to vehicle stability principles and control system design and analysis
- Experience with auto-code generation
- Experience in RPO development and test
- Knowledge of the ramifications imposed on GNC design by RPO activities
- Experience with containerization and microservices
- History of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting
- Experience providing technical oversight of junior engineers
- Experience providing scheduling and budgetary inputs for GNC efforts
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
