The role of the Drydock Estimator Specialist is to prepare detailed estimates for drydocking, ship maintenance, repair, conversions, and new construction projects.

This involves evaluating owner-supplied specifications, terms and conditions, and detailed or outline specifications to determine man-hour and material requirements. The successful candidate will also be responsible for communicating with owners/customer representatives and Project Managers throughout the bid process and during vessel refits.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare labour and material estimates for drydocking, ship maintenance and repair, conversions, and new constructions based on accurate evaluations of owner-supplied specifications.
  2. Communicate with owners/customer representatives and Project Managers throughout the bid process, after the contract is awarded, and during vessel refits.
  3. Carry out calculations to form the basis for estimates and use knowledge of Classification and Ship Safety Regulations to determine appropriate dimensions, materials, and equipment.
  4. Research specialized products, equipment and systems by locating and/or comparing sources, providing the purchaser with relevant information and requests, and obtaining pertinent information and cost.

The Drydock Estimator Specialist must have excellent analytical, mathematical, problem-solving, decision-making, negotiating, and interpersonal skills. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a strong sense of customer service orientation, excellent communication skills in the English language, and knowledge of applicable rules and regulations in the marine industry.

Requirements:
  • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Naval Architecture or Engineering
  • 10 years operational or technical experience in the ship repair industry with a minimum of 5 year estimating experience
  • Demonstration of business ethics, integrity, and honesty in all situations
  • Familiarity with all shipyard trades and knowledge of marine equipment and systems

The estimated salary for this position is $98,300 - $117,900 per annum. The successful candidate will receive a competitive total compensation package including an annual bonus, pension plan matching, and best-in-class health and wellness benefits package.
