Senior Persons Living Connected (SPLC) is a dynamic organization dedicated to providing innovative support services for seniors. As a Senior Cook for our community dining program, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving nutritious meals that promote the health and well-being of our clients.

About the Role

The Senior Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals for older adults and seniors, coordinating meal preparation, and providing other support duties to promote the health and safety of clients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook meals for older adults and senior clients, including special diets and cultural preferences
  • Determine serving sizes and estimate quantity of food supply requirements
  • Plan menus for daily lunch and dinner specials as required
  • Manage the meal preparation for different programs and activities, including inventory management and ordering supplies
  • Perform other support duties, such as reporting hygiene and safety hazards, maintaining kitchen equipment, and cleaning and sanitizing food preparation equipment
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Community College Diploma in Food Services and/or Nutrition, or equivalent
  • Food Handler Certification
  • Experience in preparing meals for 35 people or more, preferably in a culturally diverse environment
  • Good organizational and time management skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a busy kitchen with high pressure and as part of a team
What We Offer

SPLC offers a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for professional development and a healthy and safe working environment.
