Job Summary

Trotter & Morton Group of Companies is a leading construction company providing electrical, mechanical, and metal work services for various commercial, civil, and industrial building projects. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tool Crib Operations Manager to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tool and Equipment Management: Coordinate the start-up of projects with respect to tools and equipment, as per Tool Request Lists with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, and Foremen. Quote and purchase tools and equipment as required.
  • Supplier and Distributor Relations: Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers, distributors, and manufacturing representatives. Negotiate best pricing acting in the best interests of Trotter & Morton.
  • Tool Return and Repair: Determine the best method for returns from sites at job closures and coordinate with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, Foremen, and/or others.
  • Tool Maintenance and Calibration: Responsible for company and employee tools - make small repairs, ensure major repairs are sent to the appropriate repair depot, and calibrate sensitive equipment.
  • Communication and Coordination: Communicate on all levels with Management, Superintendents, Project Managers, Staff, and Suppliers to direct the positive flow of tools, equipment, and supplies to job sites effectively.
  • Tool Engraving and Tracking: Responsible for engraving company tools and inputting new tool information, including serial number, price, model, warranty, into the management system to ensure proper tracking of tools.
  • Tool Crib and Yard Maintenance: Responsible for keeping the tool crib, loading dock, and sidewalks safe, organized, and clean. Ensure general yard clean-up and removal of garbage and hazardous materials.
  • Shared Calendar and Compliance: Ensure any new deliveries and pickups are added to the shared calendar and ensure compliance with Company Safety and HR policies and procedures.
  • Training and Support: Provide support and training, as required, and perform other duties as required.
Requirements

  • Leadership and Safety: Ability to train and supervise employees, promote and sustain a safe working environment, as per T&M company policies.
  • Knowledge and Experience: Experience in construction with a focus in mechanical and/or electrical operations is considered an asset, and experience in a related warehouse/yard environment involving distribution, receiving, and shipping, usually evidenced by 3-5 years' experience.

  • Travel and Driving Record: City travel may be required, and must have a clean driving record and abstract.
