Job Summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a skilled Emergency Department Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. As a key member of our ED team, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of and providing treatment to adult and pediatric patients requiring care in the Emergency Department.

Our ED is a 54-bed unit that serves the communities of Halton, Halton Hills, and the surrounding areas. We have a unique 5-bed mental health unit and a dedicated DI cluster to better serve our patients.

Our roaming triage model allows us to quickly triage patients and deploy them to the most appropriate area of the department where they will be treated. Our 24-hour staff are comprised of nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other members of a robust multidisciplinary team.

As an Emergency Department Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Key qualifications for this role include:

  • Current Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Heart & Stroke Approved BLS Provider Card upon hire
  • Previous Emergency Department experience required
  • Experience in triage and in-charge responsibilities required
  • ACLS certificate required at time of hire and ongoing
  • Completion of an on-site sponsored course is required within one year of hire date
  • Successful completion of Canadian Emergency Nursing Certification Exam would be an asset
  • Successful completion of post-diploma Emergency courses, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, would be an asset
  • Basic ECG interpretation and 12 lead ECG application and interpretation preferred
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
