Software Performance Engineer

About the RoleThe Site Reliability Engineering team at Sentry is responsible for deploying, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring our hosted platform. We leverage automation tools to scale services and meet the demands of millions of developers. Sentry processes terabytes of data daily, returning complex aggregations with sub-second latency.
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you'll work with various technologies and have a direct impact on how Sentry evolves to handle increasing event volumes. You'll contribute to the SRE team's vision in a world of cloud providers and partner with other engineering teams to grow and sustain Sentry.
This role involves:
- Ensuring uptime and reliability of Sentry's hosted platform
- Architecting and automating services to meet scalability demands
- Analyzing and tuning systems for maximum efficiency
- Collaborating with other Engineering teams to deploy and scale new and existing services
- Participating in the team's on-call rotation to respond and resolve critical issues

Requirements:
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with production monitoring and logging tools
- Proficiency in System Administration: Debian, Docker
- Cloud: Google Cloud Platform
- Databases: PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redis, BigTable
- Environment Management: Saltstack, Kubernetes, Terraform
- TCP/HTTP Routing: HAProxy, NGINX, Envoy
- Data Streaming Platforms: Kafka, RabbitMQ
- Programming and scripting skills (Python is a plus)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Estimated Salary Range: $144,000 - $164,000. A successful candidate's salary will be determined by factors including work location, education, experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. The position comes with eligibility for incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage.
