About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Specialist to join our team at the Saskatoon Centre for Patient Oriented Research. The successful candidate will work closely with our staff and partners to provide support to the work of the various component areas within our centre and its partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the priorities of the component areas and daily work, including traineeship administration and mentorship, assistance with trainee instructional events and awards, and strategizing and coordinating the production of training and orientation tools.
  • Work with stakeholders to specifically address traineeship administration and mentorship, along with researcher capacity development in the context of Patient-Oriented Research (POR) with the express intent on leading and inspiring change within the healthcare system.
  • Build capacity in traineeships, especially with the use of new technologies, to build capacity in POR in collaboration with the Director of Capacity Development.
  • Partner with Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation (SHRF) to plan and administer shared annual POR grants.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations.
  • Provide input to the Director regarding opportunities for training, events, and other opportunities to build capacity in POR.
  • Support the Scientific Director to identify and recruit individuals taking part in POR to the SCPOR ARA and develop strategies to continue to engage and leverage both new and current members of this community of practice.
  • Support the Director in developing and implementing operational plans and reporting on outcome measures to advance the strategic directions within SCPOR's mandate.
  • Facilitate activities and events in collaboration with the Director and other SCPOR staff.
  • Develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with partners and stakeholders, to support and accelerate the advancement of POR.
  • Develop and maintain internal working relationships required for the conduct of the various component areas.
  • Represent SCPOR in different forums, events, or committees to advance the understanding and goals of SCPOR at provincial and national levels.
  • Collaborate and work effectively with the SCPOR Leadership, Partners, and SCPOR staff.
  • Work with SCPOR stakeholders to ensure appropriate individuals are engaged in SCPOR activities, outcomes, and impacts.
  • Work with the other SCPOR staff on SCPOR's activities, projects, and priorities.
  • Manage project timelines, repositories, tracking tools, and measures within the component areas and SCPOR's priorities.
Requirements
  • Graduate degree in health or other relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience or a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • A strong understanding of academia, health research, and the research process would be considered a significant asset.
  • A background in academic mentorship would be considered a significant asset.
  • Experience planning engaging workshops, webinars, and networking events, especially those offered in online formats, is required.
  • Experience in health research, especially POR and knowledge of and connections to Saskatchewan's health research community, especially those individuals engaging in POR, is an asset.
  • Experience and knowledge of research funding processes, academic awards, project management, and knowledge translation is an asset.
  • Experience organizing knowledge translation activities and events, experience organizing conferences (especially online), and experience in developing multimedia products (e.g., videos, podcasts, animations, etc.) is an asset.
  • Experience with POR and community-based research is an asset.
  • Experience working with rural and First Nations and/or Métis organizations or communities is an important asset.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $67,753.00 per annum, commensurate with education and experience. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the advancement of Patient-Oriented Research in Saskatchewan.
