Job Title: Child and Youth Repatriation Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Saskatoon Tribal Council is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child and Youth Repatriation Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Well-Being Resource Development department, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing strategies to promote the positive repatriation and reunification of children and youth transitioning from care to their family and home community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with children and youth in care, building trust and rapport through empathy and respect for their confidentiality and privacy.
  • Identify and communicate client needs with assigned MSS case workers to ensure individual case plans are meaningful and culturally relevant.
  • Maintain regular communication with MSS case workers to monitor progress and advocate for the well-being of children and youth in care.
  • Develop and implement strategies for children and youth who are repatriated to their community, ensuring a personal connection with their kinship unit and promoting well-being.
  • Communicate regularly with STC staff and community partners to facilitate access to resources and ensure effective reunification and well-being monitoring.
  • Ensure practices are in accordance with applicable legislation and policies related to child protection and child abuse.
  • Collaborate with STC staff and community partners to develop and implement effective reunification and well-being monitoring criteria and methods.
  • Provide after-care support to clients to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Travel inter-provincially, as needed, to connect with children and youth in care.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Work (BISW or BSW).
  • 3-5 years of experience in prevention or protection services.
  • Proven experience building trust with youth and building relationships.
  • Experience working within a governance structure in a community development capacity with First Nations; familiarity with First Nations culture and history is considered an asset.
  • Membership in good standing or eligibility to register with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of child and family services legislation and policies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with service partners and community partners.
  • Proven skills in being assertive, persuasive, and an influencer of change.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Dependability, interpersonal skills, integrity, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid Saskatchewan driver's license and meeting STC's insurance requirements.
  • Current, original Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) with vulnerable sector search.
