Public Safety Professional

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Public Safety Professional to join our team at the University of Saskatchewan. As a key member of our Protective Services department, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and staff.
About the RoleThis is a full-time permanent position working a variety of shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting patrols, responding to emergencies, and engaging with the community to prevent crime and promote public safety.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular patrols of campus areas to identify potential safety hazards and respond to incidents as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service to members of the university community, addressing their concerns and providing information on safety procedures and protocols.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to share intelligence and best practices in public safety.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in areas such as crisis management, de-escalation techniques, and emergency response.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve shared goals and objectives, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Degree or diploma in a related field, such as policing, sociology, or psychology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid class 5 driver's license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Capacity to adapt to changing situations and priorities, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
- Ability to articulate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
The salary for this position is approximately $ $73,000 per year, based on a 1.60 FTE schedule. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan and paid time off.
