About the Role
  • We are seeking a highly skilled Community Developer to join our team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will engage in community development, organizing, and outreach activities that cater to the needs of Ottawa's low-income communities.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Developing and coordinating community initiatives, in collaboration with staff members and community partners;
  • Identifying emerging community issues and responding appropriately;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with community agencies, organizations, and stakeholders as needed;
  • Assisting with funding applications and materials preparation, where necessary;
  • Providing information, strategic advice, and problem-solving resources to the community;
  • Creating programs, education events, written materials, and social media resources;
  • Participating in relevant inter-clinic groups and contributing to law reform activities;
  • Preparing reports on community-based initiatives;
  • Collaborating closely with staff teams at our offices and partner organizations;
  • Enhancing the legal clinic's capacity to plan and implement local strategies for Ontario-wide or Canada-wide initiatives;
  • Supporting student and volunteer recruitment, training, and supervision;
  • Familiarity with the legal clinic's areas of practice and service delivery;
  • Working effectively with the Board of Directors when necessary.

Requirements
  • Minimum three years of experience working with community-based organizations;
  • Excellent skills in community engagement, outreach, partnership, and group development;
  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals and equity-seeking groups;
  • Strong knowledge of community services in Ottawa;
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively;
  • Exceptional organizational, writing, and communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills and experience with social media;
  • Capacity to work in French is preferred.
