Job Summary

As a Senior Cloud and Data Engineering Lead at Citi Canada Technology Services ULC, you will play a key role in driving the company's Data Platform Modernization strategy. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team of professionals in building scalable data products and establishing data platforms to support complex analytical usage, including operational ML use cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and lead an elite engineering unit focused on building core components to support our businesses' data and analytics capabilities for use across SST.
  • Develop cloud data strategy, data pipelines, and ingestion frameworks, streaming frameworks, and lineage frameworks to support a diverse set of applications and analytical and ML use cases across SST.
  • Create technology solutions and work in partnership with internal IT teams and cloud providers to accelerate public cloud adoption and harness associated emerging technologies.
  • Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for the team, including performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management, and planning while monitoring end results.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues.
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards.
  • Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals.
  • Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations, including drawing from internal and external sources.
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and engineering excellence across the enterprise, including modern engineering practices, adoption of open source and open standards, creating a culture of collaboration and efficiency.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in applications development.
  • Experience in management.
  • Experience managing global technology teams.
  • Working knowledge of industry practices and standards.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Deep expertise as a hands-on technical leader working on complex systems in a large organization, structuring, establishing, and leading multiple product-centric engineering teams.
  • Deep engineering expertise building scalable data products, with a practitioner understanding of data warehousing, messaging, distributed data architectures, and establishing data platforms to support complex analytical usage, including operational ML use cases.
  • Experience driving software delivery transformation through Agile practice and process, with a focus on establishing continuous delivery culture and process.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms and associated developer toolchains, DevOps models, and best practices.
  • Exceptional communicator who loves working with people, confident communicating at all levels from an individual team to the entire enterprise.
  • Highly credible hands-on engineer, confident to deep dive into a product and codebase and offer detailed, constructive analysis and feedback.
  • Well-developed technical written communication skills and able to effectively use internal social media platforms to communicate across the group.
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
