Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our Server Engineering team in Toronto. As a key member of our global engineering team, you will be responsible for developing, securing, and scaling the backend infrastructure to support our platform, handling millions of concurrent API calls.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and highly available distributed systems.
  • Collaborate with product and other functional engineering teams to develop and deploy new features.
  • Work closely with teammates to ensure code quality, reusability, and maintainability.
  • Take ownership of code and ensure it is well-documented and follows best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend engineering.
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies, such as Amazon Web Services and Azure.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases, such as Redis and Cassandra.
  • Advanced understanding of network stack, HTTP protocol, and RESTful services.
  • Experience with messaging platforms, such as Kafka.
