Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Editorial Videographer to join our team at Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for capturing and editing high-quality video content that showcases the stories and experiences of Indigenous communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews and capture footage for various projects, including documentaries, news segments, and cultural events;
  • Edit and assemble footage into engaging and informative video content;
  • Collaborate with producers and writers to develop story ideas and concepts;
  • Work closely with our broadcast technicians to ensure high-quality technical support;
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and issues;
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in video production and editing;
  • Contribute to the development of our content strategy and help shape the direction of our programming.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or certificate in a related discipline, such as film or television production, with proven experience in daily news broadcast;
  • Hands-on experience with Sony XDCAM camera equipment, audio boards, ENG lighting techniques, and various Avid editing platforms;
  • Familiarity with NewTek's Tricaster TC1 series (an asset but not essential);
  • A valid driver's license and a clear driver's abstract;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • A sensitivity and understanding of culture and issues relevant to Indigenous communities;
  • Strong computer/internet/social media familiarity and knowledge of broadcast technology/troubleshooting.
