Job Summary

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Relief Support Assistant to join our team. As a Relief Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support to students with special needs or those who require additional assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with implementing specialized and modified learning activities to provide a positive learning experience for students with special needs.
  • Work with special needs students individually or in small groups to provide academic assistance in core areas such as reading and math.
  • Ensure that special needs students are provided with a positive learning environment and have opportunities to learn effective listening and communication skills and good work habits.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to promote a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence in students.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Grade 12 combined with related training in working with special needs students and experience in an educational environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

The Government of Northwest Territories offers a competitive salary range of $34.20 per hour to $40.85 per hour, plus a pro-rated annual Northern Allowance. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development.
